This law was also amended by Public Act 499 of 2012 and Public Act 149 of 2016 to assure that a woman seeking an abortion is informed that it is illegal to coerce a woman to have an abortion, that she will be asked about coercion before giving consent for the procedure and will be offered help if she is being threatened, intimidated or is being physically, emotionally or sexually harmed. This law was amended by Public Act 345 of 2000 to allow this information to be provided on the internet solely through this department-sponsored website.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has been charged with developing and providing certain documents. The information is designed to provide a woman with accurate and unbiased information on the procedure she is about to undertake. This law requires that certain information be made available to a woman who is seeking an abortion at least 24 hours prior to the abortion procedure. Michigan's Informed Consent for Abortion law was created by Public Act 133 of 1993.
